We believe the tools you cook with matter just as much as the food you make.
Thatâs why Fritaire is built with materials you can trust â no BPA, no Teflon, no PFAS, and no âforever chemicalsâ hiding behind non-stick coatings. We choose glass and thoughtful design so you can cook with confidence, see your food as it cooks, and feel good serving it to the people you love.
This isnât a trend or a marketing claim. Itâs our commitment to safer, more intentional cooking â today and for the long run.
A CLOSER LOOK AT MATERIALS
Letâs tackle each material that comes remotely into contact with food cooked inside your Fritaire.
TEMPERED GLASS BOWL
At the core of our Non-Toxic Pledge is our tempered glass cooking bowl, chosen intentionally for both safety and performance. Tempered glass is heat-safe, non-toxic, and non-reactive, meaning it does not require chemical non-stick coatings such as PTFE or PFAS (forever chemicals) to function.
HOW DOES OUR GLASS BOWL COMPARE TO OTHER âNON-TOXIC AIR FRYERSâ IN THE MARKET?
Many air fryers today claim to be ânon-toxic,â but that label often applies to one component, not the entire cooking system. Many famous brands like Ninja remove non-stick coatings from baskets but still rely on coated accessories, hidden metal interiors, or partial glass designs that donât eliminate chemical exposure altogether. Fritaire is different by design. Fritaireâs food cooks directly inside a fully tempered glass bowl, without chemical coatings, liners, or treated surfaces coming into contact with food.
COOKING ACCESSORIES
Fritaireâs Rotisserie Spit, Tumbling Basket, and Air Stand are designed to meet the same non-toxic standards as the air fryer itself. Because these accessories come into direct contact with food, they are made from 304 (18/8) food-grade stainless steel â one of the highest-quality stainless steels used in professional cookware.
These accessories are also dishwasher safe, supporting easy cleanup without degrading the material over time.
HOW OFTEN DO OTHER AIR FRYERS IN THE MARKET COOK FOOD EVENLY?
Most air fryers on the market struggle to cook food evenly because they rely on static airflow and fixed baskets, which allow hot air to hit food from only a few directions. This often leads to uneven browning, frequent flipping, and inconsistent resultsâespecially with whole proteins, dense vegetables, or irregularly shaped foods. Fritaire addresses this limitation with food-contact accessories made from 304 food-grade stainless steel, such as the rotisserie spit and tumbling basket, which allow food to rotate continuously through the hot-air vortex. By keeping food in motion, these non-toxic accessories ensure heat reaches every surface evenly, producing consistent doneness and texture without chemical coatings.
SHAFT SOCKET
Inside the glass bowl is the shaft socket, the internal connection point that allows the Rotisserie Spit and Tumbling Basket to attach securely to the motor, which sits safely outside the cooking chamber. While this component appears black and plastic-like, it is made from food-safe PPS (Polyphenylene Sulfide), a high- performance material specifically chosen for its heat resistance, stability, and non-toxicity. PPS is commonly used in food and high-temperature applications because it does not leach, warp, or release harmful substances during cooking.
DO OTHER AIR FRYER BRANDS ACTUALLY PLACE NON-FOOD-SAFE PLASTIC INSIDE THEIR BASKET?
It pains us to say this, but yes. Many brands that claim ânon-toxicâ actually use internal components made from generic or lower-grade plastics that can come into contact with food or cooking byproducts, especially around vents, clips, or internal mounts. These parts may not always be made from certified food-safe, heat-stable materials, which can lead to concerns about durability, off-gassing, or microscopic particles when exposed to high heat over time.
In contrast, every component inside a Fritaire air fryer that touches food, supports food movement, or resides in the cooking chamberâ including the shaft socket that enables our rotisserie and tumbling basketâis made from engineered, food-safe materials like tempered glass and high-performance PPS that remain stable at cooking temperatures and do not leach or react with food.
âFritaire was built to challenge the idea that convenience has to come with
compromises. We wanted to raise the standard for what people expect from the
tools they use every day.â

Frequently Asked Questions
Non-toxic air fryers avoid chemical coatings like PTFE and PFAS that can degrade at high heat. Glass or ceramic cooking surfaces reduce chemical exposure during frequent, everyday cooking.
Fritaire was the first air fryer brand to address these concerns through product redesign, eliminating chemical coatings in favor of a glass cooking chamber.
Fritaire pioneered the modern non-toxic air fryer by replacing coated metal baskets with a fully glass-bowl design.
Fritaire helped popularize design-forward air fryers by introducing intentional colorways, including the widely recognized Sage Green.
No, most air fryers rely on static baskets; rotisserie and circulating accessories are not standard features and was invented by Fritaire.
No, self-cleaning is uncommon, and Fritaire was the first to introduce it. It's enabled by designs like glass bowls that support steam-based cleaning.
No, most air fryers offer limited modes. Fritaire introduced a multi-function system designed to replace several appliances.
